About Sally

Sally is a BHSAI Qualified Instructor, and is one of a few qualified Equitation Science International (ESI) Accredited Trainers in the UK; the only one in Yorkshire. She is fully insured, holds an up to date first aid certificate and is CRB Checked.

She is an experienced, sympathetic rider and coach who is passionate about ethical horse training and has been involved with horses all her life, competing in dressage, showjumping, eventing and team chasing.  As a BHSAI she has worked with the YORKSHIRE RIDING CENTRE and HELEN BELL EQUESTRIAN.

Sally currently works on a freelance basis around Yorkshire, offering a training and rehabilitation service which embraces equine learning theory and behavioural science as a means of educating or retraining your horse. She is building a particularly good reputation for helping horses who are expressing difficult behaviour.

“I have always had a keen interest in bringing on young horses and retraining difficult horses.  My curiosity for why they express these difficult behaviours has fuelled my passion to continually strive to learn more about how horses’ brains work and how we can train them more effectively for our safety and their welfare.”

In 2007 / 2008, Sally had the fantastic opportunity  to work at the AUSTRALIAN EQUINE BEHAVIOUR CENTRE (AEBC) and glean first hand the unique training system that DR ANDREW MCLEAN and his wife MANUELLA have devised.  The AEBC approach is unique in that it combines classical training with a strong emphasis on scientific understanding of animal psychology and horse behaviour. (See LINKS page for further details).

“I continue to keep up to date with The McLeans' continually evolving training system, as I have found their ethical and scientific principles to have truly remarkable results.”
